Many people want to stay around the International Drive area as this is where Orlando’s best restaurants, the convention center, and Universal theme parks are all situated. 

Most vacation homes are a further 15 miles or more South in Kissimmee and Davenport where the traffic is known to be dire and the infrastructure and ambiance are not as considerate as the international drive area. International Drive is a world-famous destination for good reason. There are some fabulous vacation home communities down further South, but the infrastructure, location, accessibility, and location make the International Drive the superior choice. 

Orlando and Orange County are very restrictive on vacation home communities, so if you wondering why there are almost none, the zoning in this area is very strict making Vista Cay Orlando the only choice when looking to be next to Internation Dirve, the convention center or across from Universal Studios Epic Universe new park.

International Drive outside of Disney is the most dominant tourist feature in Orlando as it is home to world-class restaurants (many restaurant companies use the International Drive to test new concepts) and I Drive as it is known is also home to numerous attractions, one of the worlds largest convention centers (the Orange County Convention Center) and all the parks if Seaword and Universal Studios sit just off it, not to mention all the shops and outlets that are along it and at either end of it.

Universal Studios

Universal Studios has three parks. The newest Park is Epic Universe which is across the street from Vista Cay. The other two Universal parks are Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios are located just 4.6 miles away by car. Vista Cay is the closest vacation home rental community to Universal Studios. 

Vista Cay Resort is the closest vacation rental community to any Universal theme park but will be within walking distance of the new Epic Universe mega-park.

What is interesting, although Vista Cay is approximately 12 miles from the edge of Disney, its location close to the express roads makes it the easiest vacation home community to get in and out quickly with less traffic than those communities south of Disney which may be closer, but the traffic and infrastructure south of Disney makes for huge traffic and does not have a nice infrastructure as the are in which Vista Cay is located. 

Seaworld Orlando & Aquatica

Seaworld Orlando (which also owns Aquatica) is located just 2 miles from Vista Cay and is a very quick Uber ride or drive-by car. Vista Cay is the closest vacation home community to SeaWorld Orlando.

Icon Park – Orlando Eye

Also referred to as the Point Orlando is home to numerous shops and restaurants as well as Madame Tussauds and the 400 ft viewing wheel known as the Orlando Eye. Vista Cay is located about 1 mile from Icon Park and is the closest vacation home community to this attraction. The Orlando Eye and Icon Park are somewhat merged although technically separate so you can freely walk from one to the other. 

The great thing about Icon Park is that it is a mini attraction to itself and full of restaurants and shops. It is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening to relax and enjoy while not being too far from Vista Cay. You can drive (currently Icon Park has free parking) or it it is a very inexpensive Uber ride. 

Shopping areas on or Close to International Drive and Vista Cay Include:

• Pointe Orlando – The Pointe Orlando is in the same complex as Icon Park and is located just a mile away from Vista Cay. It is packed with restaurants and shops.
• Orlando International Premium Outlets – is one of the most popular outlet malls in Orlando it has most major brands at discounted prices. The mall gets very busy with shoppers, especially around holiday periods and spring break, It is located approximately 2.5 miles from Vista Cay 
• Mall of Millenia This is technically not on international drive, but is the closest upscale major mall that is indoors for those rainy days located close to Vista Cay being just 4 miles away. 
• Florida Mall – This is another major mall located approximately three miles from Vista Cay also is not located technically on International Drive and is located approximately 3 miles away from Vista Cay

– This is a wine-tasting-based restaurant, located on the insurrection of International Drive and Sand Lake Road.

This is a helicopter tour located on International Drive and can take you up on the International Drive, to Universal Studios and beyond to give you a full bird’s eye view of Orlando in their new helicopters. 

Andretti Indoor Karting & Games

This attraction is located actual walking Distance from Vista Cay and is actually on Universal Boulevard rather than International Drive. This attraction features high-speed racing carts, bowling a restaurant, an arcade, and simulators. Is a great day out especially if the weather is bad as it is indoors. 

Congo River Golf

There are a couple of putt-putt golf courses on International Drive and Congo river golf is the most popular one. Most amazing amongst the caves and arcade games it has 75 live alligators in its water enclosure. 

Dezerland Park

Deezerland is located on International DFive about three miles from Vista Cay at the northern end. Here you can go bowling, enjoy the car museum, play the pinball arcade, and enjoy the amusement arcade. 

Fun Spot America

This is a mini theme park based around amusement arcades, go-carts, and mini roller coasters/ Fun Spot America is located approximately 3 miles away. It also has a sky coaster thrill ride. This mini amusement park is often rated the best budget-friendly theme park in the area and makes for a great day out when compared to the vastly more expensive mega parks. 

Orlando StarFlyer

You can see this attraction pretty much from anywhere on International Drive and it is located approximately 1 mile from Vista Cay at the Icon Park above. This claims to be the world’s tallest swing ride and takes people 450 feet above ground. It is not for the faint of heart when it comes to heights.
